5 Tips to Successful Entrepreneurship: Mark Cuban


Mark Cuban is most likely known for his role as tough-guy investor on the hit show Shark Tank, but have you ever thought about how he got his start? Cuban, a businessman, investor, film producer, author, television personality, philanthropist and owner of NBA's Dallas Mavericks, is passionate about entrepreneurship, leadership and sharing his tips to successfully running a business. 1. Know how to sell. Being able to convey why your product or service, which could be you, is obviously important. Keep in mind that selling is never about convincing, but is more about educating and helping.

2. Put yourself in the shoes of your customer. If you know how to put the person you are dealing with in a position to succeed, you can be successful. In order to do this, you must be able to quickly understand the needs and demands of that person. It is a never-ending process of learning about what people need.

3. Know as much as possible about technology. The beautiful (and stressful) thing about technology is that it changes every day. Tech is such a huge part of any successful business. Read, try, and use any applicable technology that makes your life easier and more efficient. New technologies enable change and where there is change, there is opportunity.  Its up to you to figure out what that opportunity is.

4. Be prepared. If you're prepared and you know what it takes, it's not a risk. You just have to figure out how to get there. Of course, that doesn't mean there won't be plenty of obstacles. Unfortunately, many people give up too soon.

5. Be nice. People hate dealing with people who are jerks. It’s always easier to be nice than to be a jerk.
